How to knit lace patterns?

This tutorial will guide you on knitting lace patterns. Lace patterns are created by combining stitch increases and decreases in different ways.

Now, let’s take a look at what you need to make these lace patterns? You need silk yarn and 3.5 mm needles.

For the first pattern, start by making a 5.5inch x 5.5 inch square gauge, casting 28 stitches for 40 rows. The knitting pattern should be as following:

Row 1: Now for the first row, knit 3 stitches and then yarn over. Then slip 2 stitches, knit 1 and move the slipped stitches over the knitted one. Now yarn over and repeat the process till the end of the row.

Row 2: Purl the stitches on the opposite side or for even rows.

Row 3: Yarn over and then slip 2 stitches. Knit the next one and move the slipped stitches over the knitted stitch. Turn the yarn over and knit 3 stitches. Repeat the process for the complete row.

Now to knit another one of the beautiful lace patterns, make a gauge of 4.5 inch x 4.5 inch, which includes 28 stitches for 36 rows. Then follow the process:

Row 1: knit one stitch, yarn over and slip 1 stitch. Then knit 2 stitches and move the slipped stitch over the 2 knitted stitches. Repeat the process for the entire row. Don’t forget to knit the last 2 stitches.

Row 2: Same as previous pattern.

Row 3: Yarn over, slip 1 stitch, knit 2 stitches, move over the slipped stitch over the knitted stitches and continue for the complete row.  Repeat the process as necessary.
